Design Principles and Propositions
The conceptual model and mechanism sequence imply design principles for executive operating experiences. These principles are not component specifications. They are constraints on how the operating episode should preserve cognition, authority, and correspondence.
First, intent should precede interface. Executive attention should be organized around organizational intent rather than around available modules or data objects. Second, briefing should precede browsing. The initial executive experience should create situated understanding before inviting undirected exploration. Third, evidence should precede confidence. Confidence statements without inspectable evidence risk calibrated misunderstanding. Fourth, uncertainty should precede certainty. The experience should surface what is unknown, stale, contested, or provisional before presenting a conclusion as stable. Fifth, attention should precede notification. Not every signal deserves executive attention; relevance depends on consequence, reversibility, dependency, timing, and authority.
Sixth, recommendation should precede automation. AI recommendations may support judgment but must not silently become organizational change. Seventh, authority should precede action. Decisions, authorizations, delegations, and execution traces must remain distinct. Eighth, conversation should preserve inspectable structure. Executives should be able to ask, challenge, compare, and clarify while remaining grounded in representations, evidence, and authority. Ninth, continuity should precede convenience. Memory should support future operation, not merely store conversational history. Tenth, collective operation should take priority over isolated use where the decision context is shared. Eleventh, reversible action should be favored where possible. Twelfth, learning should occur through outcome comparison rather than through assertion that a decision was successful.
These principles yield the following design propositions. Table 5, Reduced Proposition Set, provides the compact proposition architecture.

P8-MP01. Executive operating experiences that organize attention around intent, consequence, uncertainty, reversibility, dependency, and authority will support more relevant executive attention judgments than experiences organized primarily around available modules, alerts, or metrics.
P8-MP02. Executive operating experiences that present structured briefings while preserving projection, uncertainty, evidence, and authority boundaries will support stronger situation awareness than experiences that present summaries without inspectable grounding.
P8-MP03. Executive operating experiences that disclose evidence progressively before relying on confidence statements will support better calibrated reliance on AI-mediated interpretation, observable through confidence adjustment, evidence inspection, error detection, and willingness to defer judgment, than experiences that expose confidence without evidence.
P8-MP04. Executive operating experiences that ground conversation in structured organizational representations will support stronger executive sensemaking, observable through clarification quality, repair success, traceable question resolution, and reduced ambiguity about organizational objects, than conversational interfaces that operate as unstructured chat.
P8-MP05. Executive operating experiences that separate recommendation, judgment, decision, authorization, and execution will reduce the risk of unauthorized organizational change compared with experiences that collapse these transitions.
P8-MP06. Executive operating experiences that consolidate decision memory with rationale, evidence, uncertainty, dissent, outcomes, and follow-up will support stronger continuity and organizational learning than experiences that retain only conversational transcripts or decision records.
P8-MP07. Shared executive operating experiences that preserve dissent, provenance, and authority boundaries will support executive-team alignment without erasing legitimate disagreement, provided governance capacity and psychological safety are sufficient, more effectively than private or single-user executive briefings.
P8-MP08. Executive operating experiences that maintain cross-representation correspondence among intent, decisions, work, outcomes, and learning will reduce organizational fragmentation when provenance and temporal validity are inspectable.
These propositions are conceptual and design-theoretic. They are not empirical findings. Their value lies in creating evaluable expectations about how specific operating mechanisms should affect attention, awareness, reliance, sensemaking, authority, memory, collective operation, and correspondence. Each proposition requires future operationalization of independent design conditions, dependent outcomes, rival explanations, and boundary conditions. Relevant boundary conditions include representation quality, evidence availability, governance capacity, decision-right clarity, psychological safety, political contestation, time pressure, and task reversibility.
The propositions are intentionally stated at the level of operating conditions rather than feature preferences. For example, P8-MP03 does not predict that a particular evidence panel, explanation style, or visualization will always improve reliance. It predicts that executive operating experiences preserving progressive evidence before confidence-only reliance should support better calibration, all else equal, because executives can inspect why a conclusion is being offered. Similarly, P8-MP05 does not require a specific approval interface. It states that separating recommendation, judgment, decision, authorization, and execution should reduce unauthorized organizational change because each transition can be inspected, challenged, recorded, and governed. This level of abstraction keeps the propositions testable across different technical instantiations.
